As the school year comes to a close, the graduating class of 2024 begins preparations for the upcoming graduation season.

Leesville seniors have access to the ¨2024 Grad Bulletin¨ which holds all important information concerning graduation. Important dates

Although commencement graduation is Sunday, June 9, there are many prior dates to note.

In preparation for all the activities, Leesville staff asks all seniors to complete the graduation reception RSVP by May 23.

Also, by May 28 students will need to inform Student Services of their scholarships and military commitments in order to be announced during senior assembly.

On Thursday, May 30, seniors will participate in a senior meeting and practice senior assembly from 8:30-10:30 AM. All seniors need to attend and should not wear their cap and gown, as the dress code is casual school attire.

By attending this event, seniors will earn their tickets to the senior picnic.

The senior assembly is Friday, May 31 in the Leesville gymnasium. This assembly is open to parents, family members, and friends with no ticket requirements. Seniors must wear the required graduation attire (found below) during this event.

Following the assembly, seniors will take part in a senior walk, which will take place throughout all 3 Leesville school campuses as a way to commemorate and reminisce with classmates. This route will end in the high school football stadium where a senior picnic will be held.

The senior picnic will be catered with BBQ, fried chicken, and sides. Sunset Slush, a photo booth, a 360 video booth, and yard games will be present at the picnic as well.

All seniors and their families are invited to a graduation repetition, which will be held on June 6 in the Leesville food court from 5-7 PM. There will be desserts and beverages provided, as well as each eligible student’s graduation tickets (9 per student).

Friday, June 7 at 7-9 PM seniors are invited to gather together as a class to watch the sunset in the LRHS football stadium.

Finally, seniors will walk across the stage and receive their diplomas on Sunday, June 9, at the Raleigh Convention Center at 12 PM. Seniors are asked to arrive at the convention center by 11 AM in order to line up and check in with staff. Each family is gifted with 9 tickets and is invited to join the event at 11:15 AM.

Graduation dress requirements

All Leesville graduating seniors are expected to follow the dress code for the senior assembly and graduation.

Each student was given a cap, tassel, gown, and hood, all of which are required parts of the dress code.

Women should wear a simple, lightweight dress, or a shirt with dark pants or a skirt. Dresses and skirts must be shorter than the length of the provided gown unless it is for a religious purpose. Females are also expected to wear simple, dark dress shoes to complete their outfits.

Men must wear a solid white button-down shirt with dark dress pants (black, navy, or dark gray). Males should wear dark brown or black dress shoes with dark-colored socks.

Everyone must wear their cap parallel to the floor and straight on their head, with the tassel hanging on the right side. Caps must remain in original form, meaning no decorating or replacing the tassel.

Honor Cords and Stoles

Seniors are rewarded for their hard work and dedication through cords and stoles to wear during graduation season.

Latin honors are achievements based on a weighted GPA based at the end of the first semester of senior year. The highest ranking, Summa Cum Laude requires students to average at least a 4.25 average. Magna Cum Laude ranges from a 4.0 – 4.249 GPA, and Cum Laude is a 3.75 – 3.99 GPA.

Leesville recognizes 16 different honor societies through cords, which will be distributed by the club’s advisors and officers.

Students who attended governor school will also be issued by Wake County, and military stoles are granted for graduates.

For more details concerning graduation requirements and expectations, reference the graduation bulletin or the LRHS website.

Congratulations to all graduating seniors and families for this huge accomplishment! Leesville wishes you the best of luck in your next career or schooling pathways!
