The fast-paced nature of TikTok means that trends can come and go quickly, leaving creators scrambling to keep up with the latest trends and maintain relevance.

Also, the platform’s algorithm can be unpredictable, leading to fluctuations in visibility and engagement for creators.

Navigating the crowded space of TikTok can also be challenging, as standing out among millions of users vying for attention requires a unique and original approach. Competition for views and likes can be fierce, making it essential for creators to consistently produce high-quality content to attract and retain followers.

“The first time I went viral was a trend —  it was the song from Scar. I got over 300k likes and 1.5 million views. The reason why I think I went viral is because I am very pretty. It’s as simple as that,” said Giovanna Telfair, freshman. 

Using recent trends and things like hashtags, videos become more popular. The spread of trends works by networking with hashtags and tagging other people. Using hashtags, influencers create new ideas and trends.

There are concerns about privacy and security on TikTok, as the platform’s Chinese ownership has raised questions about data collection and user privacy. The potential security breaches have raised concerns with the U.S. government.

The nationwide ban on TikTok has been rumored for the past year and a half however it is finally being put into act with a vote of 352-65 vote in the house, which will now go to the senate. 

Overall, while TikTok offers immense potential for creativity, collaboration, and audience engagement, creators must constantly adapt to the platform’s trends and challenges to successfully navigate the rapidly evolving landscape of social media.
