The first official showing of Mean Girls performed by the LRHS theater department will occur this Thursday, April 18.
Final preparations are being made for the musical, including late afternoons for both actors and tech crews. The final week before show week is commonly referred to as “hell week” as slight adjustments are necessary for a perfect show.
“It’s very time consuming. I’m not able to work much,.I’m getting behind on homework and sleep, but it’s all going to be worth it,” said Syd Worth, junior and playing Christian Wiggins.
While the spotlight may remain on the actors, tech crews must rush to make last-minute arrangements before the show. “We need to practice mic shifts to make sure the right mics are on at the right times, it’s extremely important for the show,” said Kenzi Cummings, junior.
Putting the final pieces of a drama together can be stressful for most teens in the position, however, there are positives that come out of the experience. “Hanging out with my friends is one of the highlights of my time in theater,” said Aidan Fiander, sophomore playing Martin Richmond
As the show quickly approaches, the department is making strides online to increase awareness and encourage students and their family members to attend. Videos from the LRHS theater department can be viewed at on @lrhstheatre on tiktok.com.
Tickets for the performance can be purchased at booktix.net, with the most expensive tickets being $15 for center row seating. The show is rated PG-13 for mature situations and language. Tickets can be purchased online or in front of the auditorium before each show.
