The indoor track and field season is coming to an end. While many athletes have qualified for the state track meet there is one more chance to qualify.

The last chance to qualify for states was February 2-3 at the 4A Mondo track meet at JDL fast track. 4A teams around the state will compete and push each other to pr and qualify for states.

“This meet is important for me because I will get the chance to pr and get a better seed time for states,” said Chase Harrison, senior.

Each division has different qualification standards, but that doesn’t make the meets any less competitive.

JDL meets are by invitation only. There are time requirements to get invited to these meetings. Athletes who don’t have the time requirements will not be accepted into the meet.

“We are bringing most of our team and even the already qualified athletes. We have been working hard as we begin the peak of our season. I am excited to go against the best competition in the state,” said Coach Tanferno, healthful living/track coach.

The Pride came prepared and ready to compete. Chase Harrison placed 2nd overall with a time of 35.31 in the 300-meter race.

Ruth Metefaria ran with some of the top mile runners in the country. She placed 9th and ran a 5:09 mile. Leesville’s throwers placed top 20 for both women and men.

The next time track and field will represent Leesville will be at States on February 9.
