After a long postseason, the Houston Astros and Los Angeles Dodgers face off in the 113 World Series. The Astros managed to beat out the New York Yankees to take home the American League Championship on October 21. The Dodgers won the National League Championship with their defeat of the 2016 World Series Champions, the Chicago Cubs, on October 19.

Despite my grudge against the Astros for beating the Red Sox during the American League Division Series, I’ll probably still root for them. After all, they did keep the Yankees from being in the Series. I’m a little disappointed that the Chicago Cubs were defeated; I had some hope that they would compensate for a 108 year World Series-win drought by winning two in a row. I guess they’ll need another century to win the championship.

It has certainly been an interesting Series so far. The Astros and Dodgers are tied in the series, 1-1. The Dodgers won on October 24 3-1, and the Astros won on October 25 7- 6, in a game that broke the record for number of home runs hit during a World Series game. The game also represented the Astros’ first ever World Series game win. In Game 3, the Astros widened the lead, making the series 2-1. In Game 4, the Dodgers won 6-2, retying the series. In Game 5, the Astros narrowly defeated the Dodgers 13-12, taking back the lead.

It has certainly been an interesting series so far. We can only wait and see whether the Houston Astros will take home their first World Series win, or if the Los Angeles Dodgers will take home their sixth.

A full schedule of World Series games can be found on the MLB’s website.
