leesville soccer vs. Green hope

On Wednesday, August 28, the Pride Men’s Varsity soccer team played Green Hope High School. Green Hope is the number 4 team in the state and was a challenging opponent for the Pride.

“We had one of our worst games we played in recent memory,” said Mason Auerbach, senior.

Green Hope beat Leesville 0-5; before this game, Leesville had a 4-game winning streak.

“It was definitely our most frustrating game so far,” said Mike Tetreault, head coach of the varsity team. He also said that Green Hope “highlighted what we still struggle with as a team in the early part of the season.”

A problem was the lack of attention to details. “Playing sloppy balls that gave Green Hope the ball right back,” said Colt Gidley, sophomore, via text. Gidley also said the recent loss showed they “need to focus” or they can be beaten.

Tetreault said for the rest of the season, the team needs to improve their communication and organization, as well as the “learning tendencies and habits” of the other players on the team. He also says that the beginning of the school season is always hectic, and he’s still trying to establish a daily routine for the team

However, the players seem hopeful for the rest of the season. Auerbach said, “We will probably going to turn it around [and will hopefully] win the conference and possibly states”.

Despite this setback, the Pride Men’s Soccer team has a promising season ahead of them. Catch them next week on Monday 9/9 against Wake Forest, and Tuesday 9/11 against Fuquay Varina.
