Leesville National English Honor Society 24-25 Application

The National English Honor Society (NEHS) is a club at Leesville High School that promotes the scholarship of students in literature, language, and writing.

“The National English Honor Society’s purpose is to get students together who enjoy English classes, to get them to do fun activities like reading extra books, doing service projects, promoting poetry and literature with different perspectives,” said Ms. Tabron, LRHS English teacher, and NEHS advisor.

Juniors and seniors are currently eligible to sign up for the club through September 13, 2024. In order to join, applicants must have a 3.0 unweighted GPA, be in an AP/honors English class currently, and have previously completed one honors English class before junior year.

Once students are admitted to the honor society, expectations include paying required dues, attending all meetings, maintaining an unweighted 3.0 GPA (overall and in English), following the school’s code of conduct, and taking an honors or AP English class during membership years.

Service hours are also expected of members. Members are expected to complete 10 hours of approved activities, 2 of which must be through organized club events.

Meetings of NEHS are virtual, except the one mandatory event a semester.

Students can apply via Google form, which can be found on the LRHS website or NEHS Instagram. The application consists of GPA questions, prior English class grades, and an explanation of interest in NEHS. The application process is due September 13, 2024, at 2:30 PM.

With any questions, students can contact the advisors–Ms. Tabron and Ms. Bergdolt.
