Leesville girls Soccer Interest Meeting 2024

The girls soccer interest meeting for the 2024-2025 season was held on Wednesday, September 25th, 2024. The meeting covered what to expect from workouts and tryouts. Several players expressed their hopes and gave advice for the upcoming season.

Workouts start on November 20th, 2024. For the first week, they will be on Wednesday and Friday, and then every week after they will move to Mondays and Wednesdays. Make sure you are cleared in Dragonfly if you are planning to attend.

“Give your best and come to as many [workouts] as you can,” said Olivia Brown, junior. Brown played on the JV team for two years and hopes to make the Varsity team this year.

Cooper Paiva, the varsity head coach, is returning for his 3rd season coaching at Leesville. “I’m excited to see what the new year and the new class brings, and what kind of talent we get,” said Paiva.

Jose Vega, the JV coach, will be returning for his second season with the Pride. “I’m looking forward to the new season and getting to know, mentor, and coach the players returning as well as the new players coming in who have already shown commitment in attending some of the summer workouts,” typed Vega.

The returning players are also excited for the new season. “Getting to play with some of my best friends again, that’s like the highlight of the season for me,” said Ella Speerschneider, senior.

Both teams are always looking for new talent, but there is a focus on defensive players. “Last year we lost a strong back line… I think we’re looking for someone to step in and be brave in the center-back role, looking to add a little depth in the goalkeepers, and then also some of the outside back positions,” said Paiva.

The LRHS girls soccer program is highly competitive. The workouts give both returners and newcomers a chance to better themselves before the season starts.
