Braxton Berrios is a 28 year-old wide receiver and return specialist on the Miami Dolphins.

He has had 6 successful seasons playing in the National Football League, but his football career started at Leesville Road High School.

Berrios’ High School Career

Berrios attended and played for Leesville from 2010 to 2014.

When he played for the Pride, Berrios was the varsity captain and a four-star recruit.

Due to his impressive skills, Berrios attended the Under Armour All-American Game during his senior year while at Leesville.

He had offers from schools such as Ohio State, Clemson, and Oregon but Berrios decided that the University of Miami was the place for him.

Mrs. Lyon attended high school with Berrios and knew him personally. “I think he is a really hardworking, phenomenal athlete. He goes the extra mile,” said Mrs. Lyon, Interior Design Teacher.

Berrios’ Time at The University of Miami

From 2014-2017, Berrios was a member of the Miami Hurricanes football team.

Berrios began his collegiate career as a true freshman with 21 receptions for 232 yards.

Berrios continued to work hard and his skills on the field improved every single season.

During his senior year at Miami, Berrios started all 13 games and was among Miami’s top offensive performers

Berrios led his team with 55 receptions, 679 receiving yards, and 9 touchdowns.

He also served as Miami’s primary punt returner averaging 15.9 yards on 13 returns.

His top-tier play helped him achieve several awards. Some including the 2017 Jim Tatum Award and the 2017 All-ACC third team.

Berrios wasn’t only talented on the football field.

During his four years at the University of Miami, Berrios also excelled in the classroom.

He double majored in entrepreneurship and finance and finished as the valedictorian of the business school. On top of all of that, Berrios had a 3.96 GPA

At least in high school, Berrios’ would spend his lunch time working on his studies.

“He put in the work when it was necessary,” said Mrs. Barrow, Math Teacher.

Even though his time playing for the Miami Hurricanes football team had come to an end, Berrios decided that he wanted to continue pursuing football.

Berrios’ Professional Career

Berrios declared for the 2018 NFL draft.

He entered the NFL as a sixth-round pick by the New England Patriots.

Unfortunately on September 1st, 2018, Berrios suffered an injury. This resulted in him not being able to play in any of the games for that season.

After an unfortunate season with the Patriots, Berrios was claimed off waivers by the New York Jets.

While on the Jets, he had 1,085 receiving yards, 2,434 returning yards, and 8 touchdowns.

Berrios stayed in New York until March 9th, 2023, when he was released from the Jets.

Exactly one week later, on March 16th, 2023, Berrios signed a one-year contract with the Miami Dolphins.

Since being back in Miami, Berrios had 27 receptions, 238 receiving yards, 676 returning yards, and 1 touchdown.

Braxton Berrios and Alix Earle

Off the field, Berrios has recently gained attention on social media, because he is dating TikTok star Alix Earle.

Alix Earle is currently one of Tiktok’s most popular creators with 6.5 million followers.

On TikTok, Earle is famous for making “get ready with me” videos where she shares stories while doing her makeup.

Alongside TikTok, Earle has a podcast called Hot Mess with Alix Earle which has 170k followers on YouTube.

Earle refers to Berrios as “NFL Man” on her TikTok page and Podcast. This nickname blew up and even the official NFL TikTok account referred to Berrios as NFL Man.

Earle and Braxton have been publicly official for about four months.

Berrios is featured all over Earle’s YouTube and TikTok page.

“He had a great sense of humor” said, Mrs. Barrow

Berrios’ humorous personality can be seen on Earle’s page, and Earle’s fans love seeing the couple together.

“I love Alix’s videos with Braxton. It’s really cool that he went to our high school” said Rylie Stelkmock, sophomore.

Berrios’ Future

Since Berrios only had a one-year contract with the Dolphins, he was a free agent for a few months in the beginning of this year.

Meaning he wasn’t under contract with any team and he was able to sign with any franchise.

This was until March 16th when Berrios decided to sign another one-year contract with the Miami Dolphins.

So far, he has had an incredibly successful career at the collegiate and professional level.

Berrios will always remember that his football career started at Leesville.

“He’s very down to earth,” said Zack Nash, junior.

The Leesville Community is incredibly proud of Berrios’ hard work and dedication to his academics and athletics.

Leesville is excited to see what else his future has in store.
