The iconic 2024 Super Bowl Halftime show featured Usher along with special guest appearances including H.E.R, Alicia Keys, Ludacris, Jermaine Dupri, Lil Jon and Will.i.am.
This show featured a popular mash-up of many Usher songs along with intense choreography that made it almost impossible to look away. Usher opened with “Caught Up“, followed by “Lovers and Friends”, “Love In This Club”, “U Don’t Have To Call” and more.
One of the key moments from this show included the appearance of Alicia Keys singing If I Ain’t Got You, in her duet with Usher. During the duet, Usher had questionable movements with Keys that sparked controversy of the relationship between the two.
“It was scandalous; they’re both married to other people. It was a little crazy,” said Julia Scarano, junior.
Unlike other productions of the halftime show, supporting artists of this year’s Super Bowl weren’t left in the background. “My favorite guest appearance was Ludacris … I couldn’t look away when he was performing “Yeah”,” said Syd Worth, junior.
Despite Usher’s efforts, many fans are disappointed with the setlist. Sophia Bacci, junior, said, “I was disappointed that Usher didn’t perform “Hey Daddy”, [it’s] his best song.”
Overall, Usher’s performance was energetic and entertaining, putting a spotlight back onto hip-hop music.
