On April 30, I attended the Durham Bulls game against the Memphis Redbirds.
I have never been to a baseball game before this game. I went with my father because we received free tickets.
We arrived at the Athletic Park at 6 pm and the traffic was horrible even though the game started at 6:30. However, it’s not was not as bad as some of the other athletic games I’ve gone to.
From where we parked to where the arena was there was a bit of a walk, but it wasn’t too bad and it was not confusing to get to our seats.
My father had to explain to me the basics of baseball, but they were pretty easy to pick up.
There are stands with popcorn, hotdogs, funnel cake, and Chick-fil-A. I tried the funnel cake, and it tasted very greasy, like I could feel the oil with each bite. The popcorn was ok, though.
The Bulls were not playing well, and it was pretty disappointing to see my first baseball game. There were many horrible pitches and hits that could’ve changed the trajectory of the game.
The game ended with 11-4 Memphis winning and even though I was disappointed, there were cute segments where fans could compete for prizes or tickets or children hitting a piñata full of candy and playing musical chairs.
Whether or not it’s a winning or losing game, a Durham Bulls game is a great way to support the community and a relatively cheap way to enjoy your night. Consider going to a Durham Bulls game today.
