Victoria Secret has held this annual fashion show since 1995, and each year becomes more articulated and entertaining.
It’s not all about who’s walking down that runway when it comes to this fashion show, but the entertainment and overall appeal of the experience.
In years prior, performers such as Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, and many more have come to share the runway with the angels. This year the nation welcomed The Weeknd, Selena Gomez and Ellie Goulding to the runway.
Some of the songs performed on Tuesday included: “In The Night” and “Can’t Feel My Face” by The Weeknd, “Hands to Myself” and “Me & My Girls” by Selena Gomez, and finally, “Love Me Like You Do” and “Army” by Ellie Goulding.
Aside from the of top pop artists performances, this fashion show is not just any typical showcase event. This particular fashion show is the most watched fashion event in the world, leaving 192 countries all tuned in to the same event.
In the past, these fashion shows have even taken place in Paris, Cannes, Los Angeles, Miami, and most frequently, New York City. This year, the show was hosted at the Plaza Hotel in New York City, New York.
Critics and viewers gave the overall show mixed reviews on Tuesday as there was some disappointment in the choice of performers.
Breanna Del Buono, a devoted Victoria’s Secret customer said, “I thought they would have more exciting, hype music for the angels to dance around on stage to, but they were pretty quiet.”
The music selection may not have been something memorable, but the angels are not so easily forgotten.
Social icons such as first time angels Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid share the runway with returning angels including Lily Aldridge, Candice Swanepoel, Taylor Hill to model some of the most intricate outfits Victoria’s Secret has ever seen.
