Ms. Smith joins Leesville’s 2015-16 teaching staff

Leesville Road High School added Ms. Smith for the 2015-2016 school year. She is replacing Ms. Spransy, who resigned last year. Ms. Smith teaches both Academic and Honors World History in the fall semester and will teach Sociology/Psychology as well as World History in the spring semester.

Smith holds a Bachelor’s degree in history from Loyola University of Chicago and a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Michigan.

“So far, I really enjoy the students, the community feel, and the positive atmosphere,” said Smith.

Smith also describes the staff at Leesville as extremely welcoming and reliable. “They are very helpful, and never hesitate to go the extra mile to make sure I’m comfortable and have what I need to succeed here,” said Smith in an e-mail interview.

Knowing that everyone learns a different way, Smith tries to use various teaching styles.

“I try to utilize technology when possible and plan engaging lessons to help my students become interested in history,” said Smith in an e-mail interview.

Smith has received positive responses from her arrival at Leesville, and she plans to get a lot out of her experience.The Mycenaean Staff wishes Ms. Smith a successful first year at Leesville.
