Jimmy Fallon has officially taken over for Jay Leno on The Tonight Show.

For almost twenty-two years, every weeknight at 11:30, on NBC, Jay Leno could be seen on the most popular late night show. Jimmy Fallon has now taken his place, and so far he’s continued NBC’s tradition.

Fallon started his career on Saturday Night Live in 1998 and left in 2004 to pursue a career in film. He starred in several movies until taking over for Conan O’Brien on The Late Show in 2009. His career has now hit its pinnacle as he takes over the Tonight Show.

Even with Leno having the best ratings of any tonight show, NBC still promoted Fallon — most likely an attempt to appeal to a younger audience.

Fallon is the best late night host on TV; he’s more of a fan than he is a host. Fallon loves every part of his job. He’s excited about everything he does on the show which makes him so enjoyable to watch, and clearly America agrees. His first episode received the most viewers The Tonight Show has seen since Johnny Carson’s final episode.

Those who watched The Late Show with Fallon, are well aware of what a great host Fallon is. Fallon has set a new standards for late night host as he is the most talented host on TV. Fallon can sing, dance, has countless impersonations and overall is one of the funniest personalities on television.

Watching Fallon, it looks like he has more fun than any other host. Most host try to keep it very professional, but Fallon is like a kid with each guest he interviews. For almost every guest Fallon has an embarrassing story to tell about the two of them that he is never shy to tell. Fallon is also very fluid with all his guest. With some host you can tell they’re setting the guest up for a joke, but for Fallon it’s just a conversation.

NBC shouldn’t have to worry about losing the most popular tonight show; the real concern should be with Seth Meyers. Taking over for Jimmy Fallon on the Late Show is possibly more daunting than taking over for Jay Leno, and if Myers wants to maintain his job as host of the Late Show he will have to improve.

Myers lacks enthusiasm and just doesn’t stand out. If he wants to keep his job, he’ll have to improve, but for Fallon, he sure to be the top late night host for a long time to come.

  1. I do agree that Jimmy Fallon will be a great host of The Tonight Show, but Seth Meyer’s name is not spelled correctly.
