Get ready Leesville! PrideFest is the exciting new update to Winterfest. It is a casual week full of interactive activities each day, including a concert, basketball games, a flash mob, Mr. Leesville contest and more.
The activities during the week leading up to this outstanding event will pump up the school for the main event.
“PrideFest is an entertainment extravaganza for a really good cause,” said Mrs. Scioli.
It will last from Monday, March 17 to Friday, March 21 and end with an afterschool event on Friday, March 21 beginning at 3 p.m. and ending around 11 p.m.
The goal of PrideFest is to fully fund the Murphy Scholarship. Contenders will raise at least $50 each, and sponsors will donate to help to raise money for the Murphy Scholarship. The Murphy Scholarship currently funds two students with $2,500; PrideFest is meant to help raise the funding to support four students with $5,000.
Mrs. Scioli said, “[Pridefest is a] win, win, win, win, win!”.
Wondering how you can get involved? You can volunteer to check coats and backpacks, become a contender and raise money, audition to be a performer at the PrideFest assembly and the after-school concert, play tug of war or basketball and compete in the first ever Mr. Leesville Contest.
If you want to perform at PrideFest, students and groups of students can audition after school on February 13.
You can, also, audition to be “master of ceremonies and emcee” for your class. These auditions will be held on February 6 after school. In order to audition, please fill out the form on http://www.lrhspridefest.org/ by going under the “students” tab and selecting the “perform” option.
To sign up for Tug of War or the Basketball Tournament, you can go to the “students” tab and select the appropriate option.
The Mr. Leesville contest is a pageant for male juniors and seniors who wish to represent our school. They will go in front of judges in formal wear, Loonie wear, an interview and a talent portion. The winner of the pageant will be crowned as the very first Mr. Leesville.
