Boys soccer wins, advances in CAP 8

The boys soccer team beat Wake Forest Rolesville in their first round of the CAP 8 Tournament 5-2 last night, October 24, 2011. This game has put the boys through to the next round, which will be held Oct. 25 against Enloe. Game time is 6:30.

Leesville attacked throughout the first 20 minutes, but WFR’s keeper made some outstanding saves.

With their first opportunity of the half, WFR’s scored off a throw in.

The boys regrouped on defense, though, keeping control of the ball through mid-field. They scored two goals in the first half with nifty passing and quality footwork.

“We got a little frustrated last night, but Coach[Dinkenor] kept us focused, and reminded us that this is a very important game, as all the others will be if we make it through,” said Daniel Cipriano, senior, who scored in last night’s game.

“We’re playing some good defense, and maybe having the game on home ground helps. It’s tournament time; they’re really pushing each other,” said Coach Dinkenor.

If the boys win their game against Enloe Oct. 25, they will be put into the championship game on Thursday night.
