Leesville Road High School conducted a military fair on November 3, 2009 for students interested in the armed forces.  West Point military, the United States Marine Corps, and the United States Army met to talk to students about joining the armed forces.

Ms. Gwen Canada, the career development coordinator, set up the military fair at the school to help students enrich their knowledge of military services.  “I think [the military fair] is really good.  This gives [students] time to ask any kinds of questions.”

Collin Reeves, junior, attended the fair to learn more about the navy.  “I want to challenge myself, and I want to serve my country.”

Reeves eventually hopes to join the navy.  “I want an adventure, and I want to jump out of planes.”

Kwon Ma, junior, benefited much from his experience.  “I wanted to take advantage of this opportunity because I think it’s going to be a good decision for me to join.  The people gave me information on how to get in.”

Overall, Canada thought the fair helped students learn many things about different military services.  “We had a lot of kids come and attend.  I just think they get tons of great information regarding the military requirements and getting into a military academy.”
