On Friday, September 18, 2026, Leesville’s Jewish Culture Club held their first meeting, to celebrate the holiday Rosh Hashanah. 

 

President June Noyes, junior, said, “My favorite part of the holiday is being a part of and going to my services at my temple. I love seeing and spending time with all of my Jewish peers.”

 

Members of the club were looking forward to meeting and celebrating. Co-Vice President Talia Max, junior, said, “There´s a small Jewish community at this school, and it’s important to bond and learn about the culture.” 

 

Media Editor Brandon Bernstein, sophomore, followed up and said, “Meeting for the holiday is a great opportunity to spend time with others, and express our religion and culture through fun activities.”

 

Emilia Keilmanovich, sophomore, said, “At the temple, we give the kids their own mini service, and it´s so adorable. We let the kids feel like they are giving back to the community in their own way.”

 

The club members gather for Rosh Hashanah to celebrate their religion, the Jewish new year, and to spend time with others in the community. Secretary Helena Herskowitz, sophomore, said, “we gather to share our culture with other Jewish teens, and we have fun and eat delicious food.”

 

Sharing traditions like eating challah, apples and honey, doing themed activities, and learning about the holiday makes Rosh Hashanah a great opportunity for the club to hold their first meeting.
