On August 31, 2026, the Leesville Women in Stem club hosted an interest meeting in Dr. Eagle’s classroom. 

Secretary Claire Baker, sophomore, said, “I would encourage people to be in it because we do, like, lots of volunteering with kids, and encourage them to pursue careers in stem, especially young girls.”

Vice President Keeley Price, senior,  said, “I think the fact that we’re all really hard working, but we all like, come together doing fun things. It just feels like a little supportive environment that everyone can have fun in.”

Price describes the Women in Stem club as a fun and supportive environment that many can have fun in. They are all hardworking but love to have fun together too. 

Price said, “We do lots of things at the elementary school. We do fun science lessons with them — we’ve made slime, we’ve made boats, and all sorts of things just to have fun.”

The Women in Stem Club do many engaging crafts for kids, but things that also involve science like making slime and boats.

Baker said, “We do a lot of volunteering with elementary schools, like Leesville Elementary and Sycamore Creek. And we try to recruit new people from Leesville, to do a lot of fun activities.”

To keep the community in Women in Stem, they recruit others from Leesville, and create an enjoyable environment.

The Leesville Women in Stem club meets the last Monday of every month, their next meeting will be September 28, 2026.
