The Leesville Road women’s varsity volleyball lost 2-3 against Corinth Holders on September 1, 2026 at Leesville Road High School.

Leesville has been doing a lot to prepare for the Corinth Holders game. Co-captain Abi Bagnell, junior, said, “Me and my team have done a lot of team bonding, and we went back and watched old film to see what we need to work on as a team, and worked on it during practices. We also worked on it individually.”

Corinth Holders is the toughest team the Pride faces. They have to rely on each other to get a chance to win. 

Taylor Pasternack, senior, said, “Our communication within each other, and our trust within each other can make or break the game because if there’s no trust and no communication then we’ll just go down from there.”

Volleyball is a very mental sport which is something the Pride works to improve on, but with a team as competitive as Corinth, it is much harder to stay in proper headspace.

Coach Jenna Lyon trains the team to be competitive and mentally strong. As long as the team stays focused she believes that they could do a lot of great things.

Throughout the season before the match, the Pride had been spending time off the court focusing on their team bonding. Lyon said, “We have been really focusing on team chemistry in the first half of the season, so yesterday when we played Heritage I thought a lot of things connected, so I think mentally we’re all on the same page ready to progress against Corinth.”

Navigating these high pressure moments depends on team leadership. Bagnell values the opportunities where she is a recognized leader who can provide input on how their team is playing. The Pride keep a positive headspace which will be helpful throughout the season’s schedule.
