On August 27, 2026 at 6:30 p.m., Leesville’s Varsity football team played away against Wake Forest. In the end, Leesville lost 21 to 31. The theme for the football game was hawaiian out, so people wore floral, and colorful shirts, jean shorts, and leis.

Tucker Moore, sophomore on varsity playing defensive back, punter, and running back, said, “We beat ourselves, and we could have done a lot better. We feel pretty confident as a team, and we think we can get our first move.”

Moore said, “I definitely missed a lot of opportunities, but I stayed in there as hard as I could.”

Leesville didn’t play up to their standards and that is why the team lost.

Will Mathews, junior and previous varsity football player, said, “We gave them a lot of points, but we still almost won.”

Mathews said, “It was good because we played close, even though there were a lot of things that didn’t go our way. I think Wake Forest was a good team, better than they have been. Normally we beat them by like 30 or 40.”

The game was close, and Wake Forest improved compared to last year. Their team came more prepared to play Leesville. Leesville got close, but ended up losing by 10 points. 

The next varsity football game will be away at Heritage on September 4, 2026. The theme will be black out, so people are encouraged to wear black.
