Summer of 2027, Leesville Road High School is hosting a trip to Japan for students and their families. The trip to Japan is an opportunity for students and families to learn about Japanese culture while experiencing Japan firsthand.
For people going on the trip, being in Japan is a chance to get a unique perspective of the country. The trip will be an opportunity to absorb “the smells, the sounds, the forest, the wind through the bamboo, and the people in the temple,” said Mrs.Cinnamon Frame, a chaperoning teacher for the trip. Frame also said students will “learn about Japanese culture, Japanese food, Japanese traditions, religion, just everything.”
Students who want to go on this trip are eager to immerse themselves in Japan. Some students, like Matthew Dutch, sophomore, want to go to Japan because it’s been a dream of theirs. Dutch said, “I’ve always wanted to go to Japan…I’m excited to see that big crosswalk place that I see on TV”, referring to the Shibuya Crossing.
Ethan Vicuna, junior, is excited for “ the different cultures in Japan, and probably the food as well”. Both Vicuna and Dutch said they are especially excited to see Tokyo and experience the vibes of the city.
Anyone who is interested in exploring Japan with the school should go to the interest meeting on September 15th, 2026. At that meeting, Mr. Fisher, lead organizer of the trip, will provide more details about the next steps in the process.
