On Monday, August 25, 2026, at 7:18am, the first bell rang for the 26-27 school year. Leesville has hired brand new teachers who have just started their first day of school. The new teachers have to find their way to smoothly transition into a new school, and to learn what works best for them and their students.
Ms. Maegen Fitzgerald, the new art teacher at Leesville, talks about her transition and experience being at a brand new school. Fitzgerald said, “Everybody has been so nice to the point where it feels like I left a toxic relationship and then ended up in a really good one.”
Fitzgerald likes to teach students because she is able to share and spread her love for art with those around her. Fitzgerald said, “I like to see people who hate drawing and creating, end up liking art class a lot. That’s my favorite.”
Ms. Edna Seona, the new Spanish teacher, enjoys spending her time around the students and being at the school. Seona said, “All the students are very welcoming, respectful, and follow directions. I feel like this is a second home and where I’m supposed to be. I’m at peace and eager to come to school and work.”
Although moving to a new school might be hard at times, both of these new teachers have had a great transition and truly enjoy working here. The two of them mention how wonderful the students and staff are and how welcoming our school is.
