The week before spring break; exciting or stressful?

In my opinion, school seems like such a debby downer before break. And you get to thinking, “wow spring break is coming up! But I have a whole essay due the day I get back to school.” So do you really even get to relax during break? Or is it a mental battle between trying to forget about school and then remembering all of your assignments that inch toward their due date.

There seems to be this unspoken rule with teachers that the week before spring break means a test every day in every class, or some random project that counts for about 30% of your grade. Which makes sense considering it’s the end of the quarter, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s annoying.

The week before feels fast and slow at the same time — the days feel long but there still feels like there isn’t enough time within the day to get work done.

Teachers are scrambling to get new topics shoved down our throats before the week ends.

With the amount of work already being thrown at me on the regular, I am genuinely wondering if I have enough motivation to last me through a single day.

Clara Hook, sophomore, said, “It definitely is difficult to stay motivated, especially with the excitement of having time off, and I feel like teachers always seem to start a brand new unit that we are expected to remember when we return.”

Of course, I am excited to leave school and be able to relax and tan, but the things plaguing my mind seem to take over that excitement.

The entire week I’m constantly repeating the words “I just want to be on spring break, I just want to be on spring break.” I am honestly starting to feel like I’m going more and more insane as the days go by.

I truly cannot wait to wake up the way nature intended — with no alarm blaring in my ears. Being able to wake up on my own time will genuinely help me replenish my soul for when I have to come back to school..

Some of the teachers decide that they actually have some sympathy for us students and give us assignments that don’t take up 100% of our brain power. Teachers like that make this week 10 times better and much easier to get through.

My brain is on a never ending up and down this entire week every year it comes around. Am I excited or simply grasping onto my last shards of sanity to finish off the week? It’s hard to tell, so I generally mush the two together and decide that the week before spring break will always be a steady mix of emotions whether it’s a moment of excitement or a moment of overwhelming anxiety to finish off my last couple of assignments.
