The Pitt Returns with Season Two

The Pitt has finally returned on TV screens as the new season dropped on January 8th. This new season takes place in a new year in July, as Dr. Robinavitch, or Dr. Robby as he’s called on the show, works his last 14-hour shift before he takes a much-needed break from the hospital.

His replacement, Dr. Al-Hashimi, an attending from the Veterans Affairs, has already arrived at the hospital and is running things her way.

Dr. Robby observes and notices her quick reflexes and her strong leadership, though it might be a little much for him. Dr. Robby tries to get her to explore the hospital and work with other doctors on a different case, but Dr. Al-Hasimi refuses and wants to learn how Dr. Robby works. This is the main storyline of Episode One.

Episode one brought back all the main characters from Season One, except for Dr. Heather Collins, whose residency naturally ended. The actress who plays Dr. Heather Collins, Tracy Ifeachor, said that she is starring in other projects and wouldn’t be able to return. The controversial Dr. Langdon also returns later in the episode. He hides in the waiting room, waiting for the right time to go back into the hospital. In season one, he was sent home by Dr. Robby after he was caught stealing medicine from a patient for his own gain. The student doctors, Dr. Santos, Dr. King, Dr. Whitaker, and Dr. Javadi, are in their second year and are now official doctors. Dr. Whitaker teaches new student doctors, one of them who seems to have a lot of knowledge on medicine, and one who has a carefree attitude, not an attitude fit for a hospital.

Though there’s only one episode out, I think season two will be good. The introduction of new characters will make the drama interesting. Season one made waves across TV, and the show won five Emmys, one for Best Outstanding Drama Series. Season one is unbeatable in my opinion, for just the way the show was able to present itself in just the first season, but I won’t deny that season two can make the same impact.
