Hannah Allen; a triple threat

Hannah Allen is a senior who is involved in three different arts departments at LRHS: dance, chorus, and theatre.

“I’ve been dancing since I was three, and I’ve been doing other arts probably since I was about eight,” said Allen.

She credits her sister, Avery Allen, with introducing her to theatre and chorus.

“I started in dance, and then my sister was participating in a musical theatre show which kind of introduced me to the acting and singing side of it, and I realized how much I love all of it together,” said Allen.

Dance

Allen is a member of the LRHS Dance Ensemble and the LRHS Dance Team. Allen has been a part of both for three years.

“In dance, she choreographs, and she teaches, and helps just with the goings on of the Dance Team and the dance program,” said Abigail Coughlin, senior. Coughlin has known Allen since the 5th grade, when they starred in 101 Dalmatians Kids together.

Allen is also the president of the LRHS chapter of the National Honour Society for Dance Arts.

Outside of school, Allen teaches and dances for Stage Door Dance Productions.

Chorus

Allen has been a part of the LRHS Chorus for two and a half years, and a member of Capital Pride for two years. Allen has also earned the role of Choir Manager for her senior year.

Allen auditioned and was accepted into the NCMEA (North Carolina Music Education Association) State Honors Chorus.

“It is not easy to get accepted into the honors chorus, and she represented the Leesville Chorus incredibly well… Capital Pride is better with her singing in it,” said Tonya Dickens, staff. Dickens is the chorus teacher at Leesville and has taught Allen the entire time she’s sang for LRHS.

“She’s insane as a performer… She is awesome as a soloist… You can tell she really is intentional,” said Aiden Fiander, senior. Fiander met Allen freshman year through chorus and theatre.

Outside of school, Allen takes vocal lessons to keep her choral skills sharp.

Theatre

Allen has been involved with the theatre department at LRHS for all four years of high school. This year, she was elected as the new Head of Household for Leesville’s chapter of International Thespian Society, where she organises the Society’s “families” and helps plan activities for each meeting.

“Hannah is a great role model for the theatre department. She takes the work seriously but doesn’t take herself too seriously,” said Matthew Hurley, staff. Hurley has taught Allen for three of her high school years and directed her in Leesville’s annual spring musical the past three years.

“She has choreographed for the musicals and has taken on roles within the musicals and the theatre department that allow her to grow as an artist,” said Coughlin.

Allen also played a large role in organising and running the 2025 ITS Haunted House, along with fellow senior Lana Richards.

Outside of school, Allen participates in Theatre In The Park’s annual show, A Christmas Carol.

“I’ve participated in [A Christmas Carol] for about 9 years… that’s been a really amazing experience,” said Allen.

Across all of her different arts, Allen inspires both fellow students and teachers with her work ethic and positive attitude.

“Hannah is responsible, reliable, and is just a joy to have in class. If Hannah is having a ‘bad day’, you wouldn’t know it because she is resilient and she often has a positive energy about her,” said Dickens.

“She takes the work seriously but doesn’t take herself too seriously. She is open-minded and inclusive,” said Hurley.

“Hannah is really hard working…she puts in a lot of effort. She makes sure her grades are good for school, she’s a good peer… she puts emotion into everything she does,” said Fiander.

“She’s a very big presence on stage and in real life, and she’s very energetic and fun…she’s passionate about what she does,” said Coughlin.

After graduation, Allen wants to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre.

Hannah Allen is an inspiring student and a striking performer whose talent and dedication shine on and off the stage.
