Powderpuff Football: Leesville’s Fun Way to Boost School Spirit

Powderpuff is a football game where girls play and boys can either cheer or coach the girls. Any girl can join and participate in the game.

To sign up, there is a google form QR code posted around the school. Google forms should have been completed by September 18.

All participants must attend at least one meeting to be able to participate in the game. Meetings were held on both September 24 and 26 in room 123, during A and B lunch.

The optional practices were held on the soccer field on September 30 and October 2.

The Powderpuff game is a fun and entertaining change of scenery for the football games since usually, even though Leesville has a flag football team, the games do not receive big crowds. It is a very enjoyable way to display school spirit and pride.

For the girls, the Powderpuff game gives them a fun activity to do with their friends and a way to be involved with the school. As well, the coaches have an opportunity to see the other side of football and how their plays and coaching affect the game.

Izzie Woodbury, senior, said, ¨Spirit wise, football is a big thing, so I think it gives other people the opportunity to be a part of something – like girls can’t usually play football for the school.¨

Colby Coughlin, sophomore, said, ¨I´ve always wanted to be a coach…And I love football, so I’m expanding my football horizons.¨

The Powderpuff game is a fun and amusing way to spread school spirit and Leesville pride. All in all, it is something cool and different then the usual football games.
