What goes into the Student-run, Leesville-affiliated, Instagram Accounts?

Most students are active on Instagram, but who is behind all the Leesville-affiliated Instagram posts?

Many Leesville students are in charge of affiliate pages. There are a variety of pages, including sports teams and clubs.

Lacie Holeman, senior, — the manager of the @lrhs_danceteam page — explains her enjoyment: “to be able to advertise things like our clinics and to be able to show our photos of us dancing for all of our parents.”

Although being in charge of the Instagram accounts can be fun, it can also be challenging and stressful.

Viren Sadwahni, a junior and the manager of the @lrhs.mens.soccer page, sometimes struggles to keep up with posting.

Sadwahni said, “Oftentimes, people will text me that you need to make the posts.”

Sadwahni and other students who run Instagram accounts choose to stay away from the stress and judgment from other students by hiding their identities.

Sadwahni kept his identity a secret at the beginning of managing his Instagram. He said, “The initial reaction would be negative. Kids don’t like new things… But once it gets a certain amount of followers or popularity and it’s endorsed by your coach, people will start to reach out to you about the posts in a more positive way.”

One of Leesville’s most popular pages, @leesvilleloonies, is led by the student section leaders.

The managers of the @leesvilleloonies page include a group of seniors — Hayden Perry, Sydney Butler, Lily Myers, Cadhla Odwyer, Ryan Walton, Evan Kizakevich, Cole Fox, and Matthew Addonizio.

Evan Kizakevich, senior, enjoys taking part in running the account because of the creative freedom and independence that come with running an account. There are also some things he would like to change because “some of the posts are just kind of questionable.”

As a student, managing a Leesville-affiliated Instagram account comes with its pros and cons.
