What does iOS 27 have to offer?

Since its arrival in September 2026, iOS 27 has sparked a lot of internet debate, bringing new software updates to eligible iPhones. The update highlights an upgraded Siri, improved performance, and overall integration of Apple AI throughout the iPhone.

“There’s a lot more performance upgrades compared to the old ones,” said Christian Furelos, freshman. One of the main focuses of the iOS 27 update is overall device functionality. Apps now launch up to 30% faster, photos load in the photo gallery up to 70% faster, and Airdrop transfers are up to 80% faster.

Apple has pushed Apple AI on its devices since the iPhone 15 Pro — the first phone ever to have Apple AI. Apple AI has now been upgraded with expanded abilities across additional areas of an iPhone, primarily in the Photos and Camera apps.

With iOS 27, users can make use of features like Spatial Reframing, reframing and expanding the photos users take; Suggestions, taking the context of a conversation or photo and suggesting an action; and Image Playground, taking the words of users to create a visual image.

Apple brought the biggest updates to Siri in iOS 27. The new upgrades to Siri are most notable among people who updated to iOS 27, changing the way they make use of it. “I use Siri a lot more. It’s definitely the most noticeable feature,” said Caleb Thiruchendru, freshman.

The update to Siri focuses on making it more conversational and context-aware, with Apple claiming it will make Siri “more helpful than ever.” “When I have my hands dirty, like cleaning dishes, it’s a lot easier to ask Siri questions,” said Furelos.

iPhones, from iPhone 11 through the newest models, are eligible to receive the new update. However, only the newest models will receive all features of the new iOS update. It can be located in Settings, General, then clicking the update under Software Updates.
