On September 24, 2026, the Leesville Varsity Tennis team celebrated their five seniors. The night started with gift bags and speeches for the seniors and ended with a big eight-one win over Corinth Holders as well as a post match team dinner.
Brooke Baur, Isabel Snyder, and Alexis Engleson (all seniors) had big wins, with Snyder and Engelson securing six-one, six-one victories.
Baur said, “It was good. I won six-one and six-three. And I played doubles with Alexis for the first time.”
Alexa Jewell, senior, also had an outstanding performance, playing number four and winning six-one, six-three.
Jewell said, “It was super fun. I played number four, and it was awesome.”
Despite a tough setback when Ava Langfeld, senior, suffered an injury during her match and had to forfeit. She said, “It was pretty good until I got hurt, but I was down at the beginning and I came back, so I’m proud of myself for that.”
Post match the team enjoyed a catered dinner from Publix and Tony’s Pizza to celebrate the big win and honor the seniors.
Jewell said, “The posters were so sweet. I had a great poster. They put a lot of pictures on there and decorated it.”
As the season winds down, leaving the program brings mixed emotions.
Langfeld said, “It’s very sad, it’s always been the highlight of my year. I always look forward to it so it’s going to be really sad to say goodbye.”
Sharing similar emotions, Baur said, “I’m pretty sad because it’s been four years, and I’ve made lots of great friendships.”
While closing their high school tennis careers is bittersweet, the seniors look toward the future with gratitude for the memories made on the court.
Jewell said, “I don’t want to leave the team because they are just so awesome, but I’m also happy to start a new chapter of life.”
With four years of hard work, memories, and lasting friendships, these five seniors leave a lasting mark on the Leesville tennis program.
