On Monday, August 24, 2026, Leesville Road High School welcomed this year’s freshman, the class of 2030.

 

Many were nervous about the first day, whether it was navigating the halls, finding classes, making friends, or dealing with the new workload–but they are not alone.

 

The transition from middle school to high school can be nerve racking but having friends and support from the Leesville staff can ease some of these anxieties. 

 

Miller Noblitt, freshman, said, “It was a lot different, ‘cause there was way more people, and the classes were harder to find.”

 

Cara Hahn, freshman, said she was nervous about “meeting new people and making friends.” 

 

Hahn said, “The classes are a lot longer and the halls are a lot more crowded.”

 

The social aspect of starting high school is a worrisome topic for many freshmen. Some are branching out with new groups, and others are coming into Leesville with their close circles. It can be relieving to see some familiar faces and awkward when encountering new kids from other feeder schools. This is something entirely new for middle schoolers. 

 

Grace Vincitorio, freshman, said, “I thought I was gonna get lost, but it was pretty easy to find my classes.”

 

The new Leesville entrants attended a Freshmen orientation, named ‘Leesville Launch’, on Thursday, August 20, 2026. They walked through their schedules and visualized how their first day would go. Doing a walkthrough to acclimate themselves with their classes, teachers, and classmates in their schedule can help reduce pressure on the first day.

 

Freshman year is just beginning, but the first day is always the most anxiety driven and stressful day of the year. As the freshmen are adapting to their new daily life at LRHS, the nerves will start to ease and they can enjoy their first year of high school.
