From Thursday, February 18, to Sunday, February 21, 2027, Leesville’s intermediate and advanced theater classes will be traveling to New York. 

 

Eleanor Dalton, sophomore, said, “The New York trip is going to be a lot more free in a sense compared to trips with theater I’ve taken in the past. I won’t have the stress of competing for anything, and I’ll just be able to enjoy the experience.”

 

Later in the semester before departure, students will get to vote on which two Broadway performances they will get to see while in New York. They will also get to take a masterclass with a Broadway star from one of the two shows they will watch. 

 

Holland Simpson, sophomore, said, “I’m excited to do the masterclass because getting to work first hand with someone with experience in the industry is such a great opportunity to learn from them and improve myself.”

 

The group will get to tour famous tourist spots, take workshops, and visit local hotspots. Dalton said, “the trip has so many opportunities to engage in theater, I’m super excited.” 

 

Simpson followed up her comment and said, “Visiting the museums, seeing the shows, taking the workshops, all of it is just such a unique experience that I probably won’t get again.”

 

Zia Fox, junior, said, “Theater is my passion. I’m excited to take the workshops because I want to learn as much as I can about acting.”
