Leesville Road High School sports teams with fewer than 20 players get new jerseys in the year of 2026 because of the switch from Under Armour–a LRHS sponsor of 10 years–to Nike.
Leesville volleyball players prefer the Nike jerseys, one of the most commonly noticed qualities of the Nike jersey was the aesthetic.
Arianna Clayton, sophomore, said, “I prefer the Nike jerseys because they have a better design, and I like the green much more than the blue.”
Nike jerseys are also a much better length and fit than the Under Armor jerseys, making them more comfortable.
Ellasyn Robinson, sophomore, was the only player to recognize the improved fit of the Nike jerseys. “I feel like the Nike jerseys are better than the Under Armour ones because they fit so much better.”
Players from the volleyball team mentioned that they disliked the thickness of the jerseys, and that they get too hot because of the double lined sleeves.
Megan Gill, junior, said, “I prefer the Under Armour jerseys to the Nike jerseys, only because they are a lot thinner, and I don’t get as sweaty in a hot gym.”
Some volleyball players recognized a positive about the double lined sleeves in the Nike jerseys.
Mya Stauffeneker, junior, said, “Although the new jerseys are hot, I think that the double lined sleeves will help to prevent the jerseys from ripping.”
Clayton noticed the new Nike jerseys are better quality. She said, “The Nike jerseys have a much better textured design than the Under Armour jerseys, but they are also made of a higher quality fabric.”
The swap to Nike will allow Leesville teams to wear high quality and professional looking jerseys while receiving around a 40% discount on merchandise.
