On November 12 – 14, 2026, the drama department will be performing Arthur Miller’s drama, The Crucible, as the fall play. Featuring a large cast and crew, the upcoming production is set to bring something intriguing for Leesville Road High School to the stage. 

 

Written in 1953, the famous historical play centers on the events of the Salem witch trials. The story dramatizes the trial proceedings and the surrounding social conflict in 17th-century Massachusetts. 

 

Mr. Hurley, theatre teacher and director, said, “The Crucible is one of my favorite plays. There are such timeless themes in the play.” 

 

He also noted the energy surrounding the production leading up to auditions. Hurley said, “A lot of the theatre students are excited about it and that really excites me.” 

 

Students planning to audition are looking forward to the show as the scheduled date for auditions approaches. 

 

Nina Whittington, senior and auditionee, spoke about her personal interest in the story and the script. 

 

Whittington said, “I love The Crucible and the characters. It’s going to be really fun and dramatic and different.” 

 

In addition to working on the production once casting is officially set, participating in the play gives students a chance to interact with fellow classmates.

 

Lanah Williams, sophomore and tech theatre student, commented on the community aspect of joining the team.

 

Williams said, “The Crucible is going to be fun and a way to meet new people.”

 

The fall play is a mainstage event hosted by the high school drama program each year. To see The Crucible at the LRHS auditorium, viewers can buy tickets starting October 29th.
