On Tuesday, September 22, 2026 Leesville Volleyball will host their annual Assist for Alzheimer’s game. The Pride will take on the Enloe Eagles at home.

What originally began as an initiative by former organizers Erin Hensler and Christie Dobbin has evolved into a program-wide tradition. Both creators — along with current varsity head coach Jenna Lyon and JV-A head coach Ashley Burch — have watched loved ones battle the disease.

Lyon said, “Our personal connections to this illness inspired us to channel our program’s energy and community spirit into something that could help others facing similar struggles. What began as a personal mission has grown into a program-wide commitment to supporting Alzheimer’s awareness and research.“

The event serves as a way to raise awareness, as well as support, for Alzheimer’s. Something that originally began because it touched previous coaches has become a big night for the whole program.

Anniston Gasper, junior, said, “At the game, we raise money by doing raffles. And whichever team raises the most money gets to pie the other teams in the face.”

The event aims to raise both funding and awareness for patient care and medical research. To encourage engagement, players participate in a fundraising competition across all three teams  Varsity, JV-A and JV-B.

Lyon said, ¨Every contribution,no matter the size, makes a meaningful impact in supporting Alzheimer’s research and patient care. This night gives us a chance to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s, show why this cause matters to our community, and honor those affected by it. It’s more than just a fundraiser; it’s a chance to unite our program around a meaningful purpose and make a tangible difference in the fight against Alzheimer’s.” 

Community members attending the match can support the cause through direct donations, raffle entries, and purchasing commemorative items.

The event will start on September 22 2026, with JVB playing at 4:00 pm, JVA at 5:00 pm,and Varsity closing out the night at 6:00 pm.
