On August 27 and September 3, HOSA Club held their two interest meetings for students to learn more about the club. HHOSA (Future Health Professionals) is a diverse group of high school students with the same central goal–to learn and master their skill of interest in being a future health professional.

 

Mrs. Ennis, HOSA’s club advisor, said, “I had one interest meeting, and students are super excited about HOSA, Future Health Care Professionals, because I think they want to impact their future.”

 

Every year, HOSA participates in two service projects — one in the fall and one in the spring semester. Members donate the items needed and earn service hours for it. Those who are not in HOSA can also donate for their own service hours.

 

HOSA Club doesn’t change much every year, except for the annual service project. Senior and President of HOSA, Ella Jack, said, “We’re not really swaying from what we’ve done the past few years, but we think we’re gonna reach out to different organizations for our semester drives.”

 

For new club members, regional and state competitions can be overwhelming, so Competitive Event Coordinator Lyla Eisner, senior, gave advice: “Study, make sure you know what you’re talking about, and get all your resources for each competitive event.”

 

Jack is competing in the state competition her senior year. Jack said, “This year, I’m competing for the second time in dental science, and I hope to place in the top ten for states. I was a round two qualifier last year, and I hope to make it into the top ten this year.”

There are mandatory monthly member meetings on Thursdays from 2:30-3:30 PM in either Room 1301, the multipurpose room, or the library. The first members meeting will be on September 10, and you must go if you are a member of HOSA Club.
