On the week of April 18, the performances for Leesville’s 2026 spring musical, The Addams Family took place. Emilia Kielmanovich, sophomore, and Priscah Momanyi, sophomore, assisted with tech last year.
They emphasized the importance of technical theater when putting together a performance. Kielmanovich, on the hair crew, said, ¨I think tech work is definitely as important as the actors on stage. Doing tech just really gives you a great understanding of what goes into the behind the scenes.¨
Kielmanovich plans to take the class because of the memories she made in the after school program. Priscah Momanyi, who assisted on the makeup crew, said, ¨The class was very fun, and I got to meet a lot of new people. It was very different. I had never taken a class before where we did anything but sit and write.¨
Momanyi said, ¨Doing tech after school we got to spend a lot of time with each other. Some of my closest friends are from doing both the class and doing it after school. I’m excited to do tech again next semester.¨
They stress that technical theater as both a class and an after school program are so important when it comes to making a show happen. The students in the crews work hard behind the scenes, all while having fun, creating strong bonds, and making friends.
Tech SignUps for Leesville’s fall play, The Crucible, are Wednesday, September 16, and performances are November 12-13.
