On Thursday, August 20, 2026 the Leesville Loonies kicked off the fall sports season by cheering on the Leesville Varsity Football team. 

Leading the Loonies this year is a group of six seniors — four girls and four boys– who are in charge of hyping up the crowd at Leesville sporting events.

Viren Sadhwani, student section leader, said, “Being a student section leader is a lot of fun and not nearly as hard as it might seem. While we do have to prepare a good bit of stuff for game days like banners and outfits, you get to do all of these things with your other leader friends, so really it’s just another excuse for fun.”

The outgoing group of student section leaders pick the new group because they believe that this new group will keep the energy high and make senior year unforgettable.

MA Crotty, student section leader, said, “I wanted to be a student section leader because I love sports and have a lot of school spirit. I enjoy going to football games and all other athletic events.”

One of the major highlights of attending Leesville sporting events is dressing up for the themes, where leaders set the bar high. Both Crotty and Sadhwani agreed that one football theme stands out from the rest.

Crotty said, “I’m most excited for USA out because I love the Fourth of July and red, white and blue.”

Sadhwani said, “I am most excited for USA out because I can’t wait to wear red, white, and blue overalls.”

Fans can expect the Loonies to be decked out in red, white and blue for the football game on Friday, October 2 at Leesville vs Millbrook.
