The 2026-2027 ITS Officer Nominations

The Leesville chapter of ITS (International Thespian Society) is holding officer nominations this week (May 4-8, 2026). Nominations were held during the last meeting on April 30, 2026, and the ballot was released after school this Monday for ITS members to vote. Officer positions will be announced on Monday, May 11, 2026, unless a runoff election is needed for one or more positions.

The officer positions in ITS include the following: Underclassmen Representative, Historian, Head of Household, Treasurer, Troupe Correspondent, Recording Secretary, Vice President, and President.

At the nomination meeting towards the end of each school year, that year’s current officers go over all of the officer positions and their responsibilities, jobs, and expectations.

Someone must nominate another ITS member for a certain position, and then other members second that nomination. The person nominated can either accept or decline the nomination. If they choose to accept the nomination, then the candidate is responsible for creating a short video or a written statement explaining why people should vote for them.

Alongside the nomination statements, a ballot is also posted where ITS members can vote. Everyone except current seniors are able to vote, but seniors are still able to nominate people for positions.

Nina Whittington, junior, is nominated for ITS President.

Whittington said over text, “I want to be a role model and leader for the ITS troupe… I think I would do a great job of improving the communications and service of ITS. I would also help to bring [backstage tech] and actors together.” Whittington has been a member of ITS for two years and was Underclassmen Representative last year, and is Troupe Correspondent this year. Whittington said, “I led the Haunted House Committee [this year] and have been on [the] Inductions and Banquet [Committee].”

New ITS members are inducted, and new officers are installed at the End of Year Banquet hosted by the Leesville ITS chapter. This year, the banquet will be held on May 29, 2026.

Reece Hall, sophomore, is running for Head of Household. Hall said, “I want to be Head of Household so that I can be more involved in ITS and make sure that everyone’s voices are heard.” Hall is currently the Underclassman Representative, works on the Inductions and Banquet Committee, and has been a member of ITS since his freshman year. Hall said, “I think I would [benefit ITS] because I want to make sure that everyone feels… included within their families.”

The Leesville chapter of the International Thespian Society is troupe #5540, and ITS makes sure to promote ITS events, plays, and musicals on the Leesville Theatre Instagram page LRHS Pride Productions (@lrhs_stage).
