Leesville Road High School’s 2026 Girls Varsity stunt season was one filled with tons of excitement and shaped up to be a resounding success.
The team’s first official match took place on March 12th. By defeating both Cleveland and Corinth Holders High Schools, Leesville’s stunt team managed to start a winning streak that would last the entire season.
One of the team’s greatest accomplishments was the multiple shutout matches. Games played against teams such as Broughton and Rolesville led to overwhelming 15-0 scores, cementing Leesville’s status as a major competitor coming into the final matches of the season.
However, some other matches weren’t as done-and-dusted. “We’ve zeroed people out, so 15 to 0… but the second time we played Apex, we thought we were gonna win because we beat them the first time, but it was a really close game, and it sort of put the heat back on everyone,” said Vera Arnold, a senior.
The stakes were extremely high leading into the final championship match against Green Level High School, yet the team managed to fight through and steal the win for the school.
“The championship game was really the first game where we were ever even down a point. We pulled through. Our team has a lot of love for one another, so I think that’s what really helped us win,” said Dakota Clark, a sophomore.
That theme of teamwork really seemed to shine through this year for the entirety of the team. A strong emphasis was put on the pure connectivity, energy, and support that the entire stunt group held for one another throughout the season.
“I would honestly say that this is the most ‘together’ the team has ever been. We all communicated with one another, and the way we cheered for each other just helped all of us feel the energy. It was just so fun,” said Cameron Beasley, junior.
All in all, the season was an incredible achievement for both the team and the school as a whole.
