Prom is a highly anticipated event among high school juniors and seniors. Dressing up, taking pictures, eating dinner, and going to the dance are all a part of what makes prom exciting for students, but preparation is needed to make prom happen.
It takes time to pick a dress, shoes, hairstyle, where to eat, and where pictures will be taken. Most students like to plan ahead of time, so there is less stress on the actual day.
“I made a to-do list for everything I need to do throughout the week… It helps me to make sure I remember everything, and I don’t miss anything on the actual day when I have a million things on my mind,” said Bailey Whitfield, senior.
Some students who run businesses have not only their own preparation to do, but they are also a part of other people’s prep for the day.
“I have 7 nail clients to do by Saturday morning, then my own nails to do. I also have to get my hair done sometime this week… As long as it all gets done by prom, it’ll be fine,” said Laniya Gibbs, senior.
Other students wait until the last minute to decide what look they are going for at the event.
“All I really have to do is my hair. I’m getting a haircut on Thursday, and getting it done, but what I’m doing with it, I haven’t decided yet,” said Devon Harris.
Preparing for prom is a key part of making the day less stressful. Some students start prepping early on, while others would rather make the decisions on the spot. Either way, prom is an enjoyable time for everyone, no matter how they prepare.
