How was LRHS Prom 2026?

On Saturday, April 25, 2026, the “Night in New York City” prom took place and was a huge success.

Prom was a night full of dancing, pictures, and dinner with friends and was a memorable night for many juniors and seniors.

Ms. Worthey, assistant principal, said, “I think, y’all, kids had fun. That’s all I care about. Y’all having fun. And y’all made memories and had a good time. We sold over 800 tickets so I’m proud of that.”

Ms. Worthey was proud of the turnout at prom and has received positive feedback from numerous students which was awesome because all the planning was worth it..

While it did rain, many students were happy that it held off until after pictures even though they still got wet later on in the night.

Many groups also rented party buses and went to afterparties.

Sydney Butler, senior, over text said, “My friends and I took a party bus to take pictures at WRAL and then to Vivo’s for dinner and then to the dance. It was a lot of fun!”

WRAL gardens was a popular spot for photos and from there groups went to different places for dinner and then most groups went to the dance after dinner.

The dance was well done by the junior class council and the theme “A Night in New York City” was executed very well.

Worthey said, “I try to bring a vision that the juniors chose. How do I tie the theme into everything? And I think y’all enjoy the theme. I heard everyone liked the pretzels, like the food theme. I didn’t hear anything bad.”

My friends and I had a great experience at prom.

We went to WRAL gardens, then Pierro’s Italian Bistro for dinner, and then went to the dance and had a great time there.

We stayed at the dance for over two hours and had fun the entire time.

Our feet hurt so bad from dancing for so long, but let’s be honest, they hurt as soon as the heels went on our feet.

My friends and I are all juniors so this was our first prom experience and I can truthfully say we had a blast and are already looking forward to next year.

One of the most memorable moments of the evening was when we were walking into the dance and it was pouring down rain, a lovely older gentleman offered us his umbrella and said “you need it more than me with those pretty dresses” so we could stay dry.

Sacrificing yourself so others stay dry seems like such a small thing, but in that moment it was the sweetest gesture that made the night even more special.

The food at the dance was so yummy and I heard so many compliments from people and seniors said this year was better than last.

After the dance my friends and I were in the mood for ice cream which turned out to be a huge fail. For starters we partied too long and Fresh was already closed, but no worries we’ll just go to Goodberrys, turns out that was a disaster because when we got there the lady said they were out of ice cream and could not make any more.

Despite lacking the sweet ending to the night, the experience was still sweet as a whole.

A special thank you to Ms. Worthey, the teachers who donated their time to chaperone the dance, and the Junior Class council for making the night fun and memorable.
