Leesville Younglife “Love Club”

Leesville Younglife hosted their first event of the new semester, just in time for Valentines Day. The aptly named “Love Club” featured love-themed karaoke and games.

“I think it was a really good club, a lot of people showed up. It was really hype. We had a lot of energy,” said Aria Wood, sophomore. Wood has been an avidly active member of Leesville Younglife all throughout her two years in high school.

Because this was YL’s first event of the summer, the leaders attempted to garner interest with a Valentine’s-themed dress code. Members were encouraged to wear different colors based on their relationship status: red for taken, white for single, and pink or purple for “it’s complicated.”

Alexa Jewel, junior, hosted the Love Club; this was her first time hosting a YL event.

“My leader Ella, she’s one of my best friends…she was like ‘maybe you should host one day’, and I was like ‘yeah I will, it could be fun,” said Jewel.

Members participated in karaoke to songs like “Love Story” by Taylor Swift, and “Love” by Keisha Cole. There was also a dry-bobbing for apples competition and a raffle. After the games, YL leader Claire Hollingsworth told a story about her dating life that she connected back to the Bible.

“I really liked all the activities…I think the hype of it really set the tone, just encouraging more people to come in. It was really lively,” said Peyton Cook, senior.

Leesville Younglife will meet again on 2/18 for their first Campaigners of the new semester.
