On February 5, 2026, the Leesville gym was filled with cheers, posters, and proud families as the Leesville Women’s Basketball celebrated senior night — the annual tradition honors graduating seniors for their dedication, leadership, and years of commitment to the program.
After the team’s triumphant win over Enloe, 70-19, each senior was escorted onto the court by family members as their accomplishments, favorite memories, and future plans were read aloud.
For the seniors, the night marked the closing chapter of a journey that began long before high school. From early morning practices to late-night bus rides home from away games, the bond formed through the sport was evident throughout the entire season.
“It feels surreal. I’ve played on this court for four years, and it’s given me some of the best memories of my life. I’m proud of how far we’ve come as a team, and I’m going to miss getting food after every away game with everyone,” said Lily Bendell, senior.
Traditionally, the juniors take the role of planning Senior Night. From decorating lockers to organizing gifts and creating extravagant posters, they worked hard to ensure the seniors felt appreciated.
“We wanted this night to reflect everything the seniors have done for us. They’ve been mentors and leaders, so planning Senior Night was our way of saying thank you,” said Madison Watson, junior.
“Senior Night showed me that this team is about so much more than wins and points. It’s about the friendships, constant support, and the way everyone pushes each other to be better on and off the court. Seeing how much love and respect the seniors have earned throughout their time here makes me realize this program is really like a family,” said Lainey Andruchowitz, freshman.
The celebration of teamwork, growth, and the lasting impact of the senior class on the program reflected greatly on the final score. Senior Night was not just about endings, but the start of new beginnings and inspiring the next generation of players.
