First quarter, you get back to school after a long summer and see some friends you didn’t see over the break.
“First quarter is the excitement of the new year, new classes, and new people,” said Elena Pasquale, junior.
In the second quarter, you have Thanksgiving break and winter break, and there are usually a lot of teacher work days.
Fourth quarter is the home stretch–you have spring break, and you just have to stick it out until summer comes again.
Caramela Palermo, junior, thinks that teachers are more laid back in the fourth quarter and try to get ready for the end of the year, so there is not as much work.
Third quarter is the worst part of the year. When you go to school in the morning, it is 30 degrees, and when you leave, it is 75. It is impossible to know how to dress, and there are hardly any days off or breaks.
Third quarter, you come off exams, and it feels like you accomplished something, but then you have to start all over again in new classes.
Pasquale hates the third quarter because, in her opinion, January and February are the worst months of the year.
Caroline Murray, junior, pointed out that there aren’t as many school-planned activities in the third quarter. “First quarter, there is football and HOCO, fourth quarter, there is prom, and second quarter, we have a lot of planned breaks for holidays and whatnot,” said Murray.
In order to survive the third quarter, you just have to put your head down and remember that just because you’re 16 and can legally drop out, it doesn’t mean you should.
It makes my day better when I see my dog.
