Why Clubs are important in school

School isn’t just about classwork, homework, and tests. It’s also about discovering who you are and what you enjoy. One of the best ways to do so is by joining a club.

Clubs give students a chance to explore their interests, make new friends, and have fun while learning new skills.

When you join a club, you instantly become part of a group that shares something in common with you. It might be a love for music, sports, art, or even science. Having people around who care about the same things makes school feel more welcoming and exciting. You start to feel like you belong somewhere, and that can make a big difference in someone’s attitude towards school.” I have met some of my closest friends in clubs I am in,” said Kaleigh Arnett, junior.

Clubs are also great ways to make friends. It can be hard to meet new people in regular classes, but in a club, you’re all working towards the same goal. Whether practicing for a debate or planning a fundraiser, you learn how to cooperate and communicate. These friendships often last long after club meetings end.

Another big advantage is the chance to build leadership and teamwork skills. Many clubs have roles like president, treasurer, or event planner. Taking on these responsibilities helps you learn how to organize, make decisions, and handle challenges. Even if you’re not in charge, you still learn how to work with others and manage time.” Being in clubs teaches you to step up and lead, even if you’ve never seen yourself as a leader,” said Kendal Meining, junior.

Overall, clubs make school more enjoyable and meaningful. They help you grow as a person, find your passions, and connect with others.
