Thanksgiving Traditions and Plans

Thanksgiving break is coming up, from Wednesday, November 26 to Sunday, November 30. Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on different aspects in life and show appreciation for everything you have. Students spend Thanksgiving break in a variety of different ways, with their own traditions and ways to celebrate.

Some students have yearly traditions they stick to every Thanksgiving, which make Thanksgiving a special day to them to look forward to all year long. An example of a special tradition is watching holiday themed movies or cooking family recipes passed down through generations.

Miresli Rojas, junior, said, “every Thanksgiving day, it’s a tradition for my family and I watch Home Alone… we also always make our families special recipes, including my favorite, my grandma’s special stuffed and layered turkey. It is just a very happy time where my whole family gets together and shows their gratitude.”

Another tradition some students follow is going on an annual trip to spend the Thanksgiving break.

“On Thanksgiving, my family and I all go to the mountains for a break. We buy ingredients at a store in the mountains and cook a Thanksgiving meal. No one in my family likes Turkey though, so we make ham instead”, said Zoey Bosse, freshman.

Thanksgiving break gives students a chance to slow down and enjoy the people and traditions that matter most to them. Whether they spend the holiday cooking traditional family recipes, watching classic movies, or traveling to meaningful places, each tradition helps make the break special.
