How does LRHS celebrate the holiday?

The 2025 holiday season is rapidly approaching, and Leesville Road High School has no lack of events throughout it. With concerts and charities taking place in December, everyone has something to be excited about.

One of the most prominent events within this season is the concerts. Chorus will be holding its annual winter concert on December 17, 2025.

“We’re doing a mix of songs this year. We have some holiday songs and some other songs of various genres and styles,” said William Harvey, junior and member of Capital Pride.

The Intermediate, Orchestra, Concert, and Jazz bands will host their respective concerts on December 11.

The Symphonic Band will perform December 12 and also made an appearance at the 81st Annual Raleigh Christmas Parade.

“We’re currently prepping for the winter concert, but then we are also preparing to participate in the Christmas parade,” said Cruz Lamson, junior and member of Symphonic Band.

Donation drives are also significant at Leesville.

Pride for Peace, a club focused on preventing gun violence in our school, is hosting a donation drive in collaboration with InterAct in Raleigh.  The drive helps women who are victims of domestic abuse, and donations include items such as clothing and cleaning products.

Other events already took place during Thanksgiving. HOSA hosted their own drive for the Poe Health Center, and students were also asked to write thank-you letters to their teachers during homeroom in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving.

Hannah Holder, senior, and HOSA member, said, “The previous drives have gone well, and this drive exceeded expectations again.. Everyone should have access to the proper equipment to maintain hygiene, health, and basic needs.”

In keeping with the spirit of the season, Leesville is hosting many festive and people-focused events during the holidays. Overall, there’s lots to look forward to at Leesville as winter approaches, and many ways to help give back to our community.
