Both soccer and football are largely celebrated in America, Leesville high school is no exception to this. The football games are a big deal at Leesville. The bleachers are always filled or overflowing with people. Unfortunately, that’s not the case with the soccer games.

Soccer is still relatively popular, but at the games the crowds are much smaller. The games aren’t as publicized as the football games are, automatically making it harder for the soccer games to receive larger crowds.

One of the most popular parts of the football games are the themes. Students love to get dressed up and hang out with their friends at the games. 

Soccer games do not have themes. Most of the soccer players agree that if there were themes perhaps more people would want to come. 

Juan Herrera, junior, said, ¨I think themes would make soccer more fun for the fans, and I think it would be a great idea for them to put them into soccer.¨

Football is already a very big part of American culture. Leesville is no exception to this. The football games get a lot of publicism and so do the themes. The themes are one of the main factors that attract the crowds. Everyone wants to get to dress up and go crazy with the themes.

The football players agree that football is much more popular because of its importance to American culture. As well as the fact that it makes a lot more money than the soccer games. Football simply gets much more support from the community.

Alex Tiller, senior, said, ¨There’s a lot more people at a football game, a lot more support, a lot more money to be made at a football game rather than a soccer game.¨ 

The football games bring in more money, meaning more effort has to be put into them which is where the themes come into play. The themes bring more people to the games because it gives them a fun way to get ready and be creative. 

Within America, football is an extremely celebrated sport creating its automatic popularity for a school environment. Many believe it is fair that the football games get themes while the soccer games don’t. 

Many of the soccer players believe it would be nice to have themes, but it isn’t a big of a deal to them since they are aware of the significant difference in amounts of people at the games between the two sports. Themes may bring more publicity for the soccer games,  but football will continue to get more attention and crowds.
