Leesville’s Executive Council brought the Homecoming Tailgate back with a bang this year – with the help of other Leesville clubs and volunteers, the tailgate was a huge success.
The tailgate is a tradition that sparks Leesville spirit and engages the community that surrounds it. Previously, the tailgate was hosted by the PTA, but after it lost momentum last year, the Executive Council took the initiative to get it back up and running.
There were activities such as can toss, face painting, cornhole, giveaways, and much more. Students, parents, and staff of all ages came to enjoy what the tailgate had to offer.
“I liked when the band and the cheerleaders came out and did their performances, and seeing all the clubs with their unique tables,” said Parker Booth, junior.
The tailgate introduced new traditions this year, such as special performances from the band, dance, and cheer teams. We also saw an appearance from the Leesville Varsity Football Team before their big game.
The preparation took hours of research and teamwork but the group that put it all together pulled through.
Elise Cha who was one of the tailgate committee leaders in the Executive Council, thought all their hard work paid off. “I’m really happy with how it turned out, I thought it was pretty successful and people were having fun,” typed Cha, senior.
Thanks to the help of many Leesville clubs and organizations that ran games and giveaways, there was something available for everyone. “I ran the junior council booth and we did a bead bracelet activity,” typed Caroline Murray, junior.
Overall, the tailgate was a huge success, and hopefully, next year will be even better.

It makes my day better when I park well.
